When healing progresses normally, a scar forms that blends in rather well with the skin. They are usually the result of a loss of pigmentation after a wound has healed.<\/li>\n \t<li>Atrophic scars: These scars result from insufficient collagen production during the skin&#8217;s healing process, which causes hollow scars. In 80-90% of cases, acne scars are depressed scars. <\/br>There are 3 types: <\/br>&#8211; Ice pick <\/br>&#8211; Depressed scar with pronounced edges (Boxcar) <\/br>&#8211; Depressed scar with shallow edges (Rolling)<\/li>\n \t<li>Keloid scars: These scars are the result of an overly aggressive healing process. They extend beyond the initial injury. Keloid scars are more common in dark-skinned people and in people with a genetic predisposition.<\/li>\n \t<li>Hypertrophic scars: These are raised red scars that resemble keloids but do not extend beyond the limit of the wound. They often occur in the first few weeks after the trauma and can regress spontaneously.<\/li>\n \t<li>Contractures: This type of scar can occur as a result of a large burn.
