IPL photorejuvenation
Photorejuvenation uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to even out skin tone by reducing the appearance of discoloured pigmentation spots and the appearance of rosacea. IPL also helps to restore radiance to the complexion, tighten pores and improve skin elasticity.

FAQ
- Prior to IPL photorejuvneation, it is essential to avoid any tanning, whether naturally or through the use of tanning beds or self-tanning products. The energy in IPL treatments absorbs the pigment in your skin, which greatly increases your risk of pigmentation change or injury. You should not receive IPL treatment if you have tanned skin – you must wait until the tan has fully subsided. You should avoid tanning or direct sun exposure without solar protection for a period of two weeks after the treatment. If you are using self-tanning creams, please discontinue any usage for 2-3 weeks prior to your IPL treatments.
- It is advisable to precede treatments with a chemical peel when IPL photorejuvenation is performed on the face. The chemical peel will exfoliate your skin to maximize the effects of photorejuvenation.
One week before treatment
- Avoid applying products to the skin that can increase skin sensitivity such as retinoids, exfoliants, or topical antibiotics.
- Avoid waxing, depilatory creams or electrolysis on the areas to be treated.
Swelling and redness of both the treated and untreated areas may occur as a result of your procedure and persist for 24-48 hours. It is not uncommon for some clients to notice that the area under the eyes is swollen for the first 24-48 hours. This swelling will gradually subside. There will be very minimal heat emanating from the area for the first 24 hours – the degree and intensity will be similar to a mild sunburn.
IPL treatment for pigmentary disorders: The pigment may become darker, brown, purple or black. The pigment may crust for a few days and then peel off. This lasts approximately 3-7 days.
IPL treatment for vascular lesions: The vessels may become white, grey, black, or purple. They may also become pale or darken (over the next few days, the damaged tissue will be absorbed). This lasts approximately 3-7 days.
IPL acne treatment: Lesions may darken and become tender to the touch. This lasts approximately 5-10 days.
Although Intense Pulse Light technology is very safe, there are some contraindications to its use in certain cases. Processing may not be carried out if:

- You have a metal implant in the area to be treated
- Your skin is tanned (either by the sun or by self-tanning lotions)
- You plan to go out in the sun in the weeks following the treatment, especially beach holidays
- You have received a medical-aesthetics treatment in the same area in the month prior to the IPL treatment
A complete evaluation including a health questionnaire will be carried out by your healthcare professional prior to the first treatment to ensure that you are a good candidate for IPL photorejuvenation and the treatment can be carried out in complete safety.
