Sagging of facial skin

Sagging skin is caused by the decline in firmness, elasticity and volume due to gradual alterations in the various support structures of facial skin. These changes can cause gradual sagging of the face as well as wrinkles.

What causes sagging?

Aging is the main cause of sagging facial skin. From the age of 25, the skin begins to lose collagen, an essential protein for giving structure and support to the skin.
In addition to aging, several other factors contribute to sagging facial skin. Unprotected exposure to UV rays, smoking, hormonal variations, genetic factors and poor lifestyle habits (stress, alcohol, etc.) all contribute to the decrease of collagen and elastin, and to changes of the fat pads and other components of the face that give it its structure.
